Friction stir welding, detection of flaws in composites and counterfeit parts will be among the topics addressed at the Materials Evaluation and Testing Laboratory (METLAB) at South Dakota State University (SDSU) Conference on Engineering Materials May 17-18 on the SDSU Campus.  The event brings together researchers to share innovations in engineering materials work and industry experts to discuss how properties of materials and processing methods can affect products made from those materials. 

The registration fee is $75 for those doing so in advance; at the door, the fee will be $100.  Interested individuals can register for the conference by going to www.sd-metlab.org.   Engineers can also earn can earn professional development hours (PDH) for PE certification.   Questions can be directed to METLAB Business and Marketing Manager Laura Bremer at (605) 688-6868 or laura.bremer@sdstate.edu.

The Women’s Grace Connection, an outreach of Stonecroft Ministries, invites area women of all ages to an evening of fun, fellowship and encouragement on Monday, May 21^st, 2012 at 6:45 p.m. at Park Place Apartments, 122 4^th St W (South Doors), Brookings, SD. “Quick & Elegant” cake decorating with Janice White from White, SD will be the special feature showing us cake decorating tips. She will be sharing her life story entitled “Playing for Keeps”, Join this former plus-size model as she glide’s down life’s runway in search of truth. A meal will be served by the staff of Park Place Apartments.
