Women in Leadership & Learning (WILL)
2010 WILL Spring Luncheon and Achievement Awards
WILL, Women in Leadership & Learning, held their Second Annual Spring Luncheon and WILL Achievement Awards on Wednesday, May 5th, at the Days Inn Convention Center. The entertainment was Appétit, the "delicious" one-woman opera. The master chef, played by mezzo-soprano Emily Lodine, suffers the interference of two non-singing sous-chefs, busy with their own agenda of a race of “which is faster for egg whites, copper bowl or food processer.” Mrs. Neat and Sloppy are perfect foils for the hilarious, feverishly whisking chef who creates a masterpiece with flour flying and egg-beaters racing. During the luncheon, the WILL Achievement Awards were given out in three categories: Businesswoman of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Rising Star Award. Sally Damm, Administrator for the United Retirement Center/Avera was the recipient for the Businesswoman of the Year Award. Lisa Svdobny, Corporate Brand Manager for Larson Manufacturing received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Melissa Keiper, Alumni Relations Officer with South Dakota State University won the Rising Star Award. There were 10 other deserving women that were nominated for the awards, which included: Dianne Ammann, Dawn Fokken, Nicolien Hammink, Tracey Hostetler, Carey Kilmer, Sheilah Lynch, Jeni Norwood, Julie Puetz, Connie Swain, and Julie Underwood. Women in Leadership & Learning will be taking the summer off and will begin their luncheons again in the Fall. Look for more information on their upcoming season in future editions of the Chamber Update.
