Connect 2140 is an affiliate of the Brookings Chamber of Commerce. The organization will strive to offer valuable experiences to professionals in the Brookings area, primarily targeting those between the ages of 21 and 40.
Mission - To promote the development, connection and retention of emerging industry leaders in the Brookings area.
Vision - Connect 2140 will be more than a dynamic organization, but a movement of young professionals in and around Brookings with the desire to be engaged, connected and relevant community leaders.
Objectives - The following objectives outline the primary goals of Connect 2140.
- Provide professional development opportunities for members.
- Create a valuable network of young professionals.
- Generate positive name recognition for the organization.
- Recruit at least 100 active members by December of 2010.
- Welcome professionals and their families to the community.
Organizational Structure
The Connect 2140 Leaderships Team is comprised of the following. The Leadership Team must be comprised of Brookings Area Chamber of Commerce Members in good standing.

- Marketing Committee Chairperson
- Meetings Committee Chairperson
- Chamber of Commerce Liaison
Key Events
Monthly Meetings - The general membership will meet on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
Meetings will begin with a “brown bag lunch” at 11:30am. The Leadership Team will present any necessary business items at 12:00pm. Presentations on a range of topics and from a variety of speakers will take place between 12:15 and 1:00pm.
Signature Events - Each year, Connect 2140 will sponsor four signature events. These events will bring the membership together and address specific themes, including; professional development, civic engagement, celebrating achievements and social interaction.
Table for Six - Each month, members can sign-up for a networking lunch for six at a Chamber-member restaurant.
Welcome to Brookings As young professionals consider employment in Brookings, Connect 2140 would like to welcome them to the community. Hiring mangers and businesses can link potential and new employees to their new home through our organization.
Due Structure
Dues will be paid on an annual basis, with invoices being sent at the close of the calendar year and prorated throughout the year. Amounts are outlined below:
- Chamber of Commerce Member—$35.00/person
- Non-Chamber of Commerce Member—$70.00/person
